site location partnershipLiberty Lake, WA (October 1, 2013) – Site Location Partnership (SLP), a Dallas-based site selection consulting firm, announced that Vivint, Inc., one of the nation’s largest home automation companies, will be expanding to Liberty Lake, Washington. Vivint will occupy a 25,000 square foot facility, which will operate as a sales call center for security, energy management, and home automation products. The project is expected to create 400 jobs, with an annual economic impact of over $62.3 million in the Greater Spokane region.

Listed as one of Forbes Most Promising Companies for 2013, Vivint was recently acquired by The Blackstone Group for over $2 billion, allowing the company to accelerate the development of new services and enter new markets. Vivint creates home security and energy systems which are controlled automatically by homeowners. The systems allow users to control their door locks, lights, thermostats, and security systems from mobile devices or online.

“Vivint is excited to be part of the Liberty Lake community,” said Josh Houser, Vice President of Global Channel Sales at Vivint. “The Spokane area produces a highly-educated and motivated workforce, which fits Vivint's existing company culture. This new call center will bring hundreds of jobs to the area, and we are thrilled to be aiding and investing in the local community.”

Greater Spokane Inc. (GSI), the economic development group that began working with Vivint last fall as it considered the region, helped identify incentives to assist the company in the expansion. Those incentives include $150,000 from a strategic reserve fund managed by the Washington governor’s office, which will help pay for Vivint’s site selection costs and the cost of relocating up to 15 workers, plus some equipment, to Liberty Lake.

“Our team at GSI developed a very compelling and competitive proposal for Vivint to get our community on their short list,” said Robin Toth, Vice President of Business Development at GSI. “Our partners at the City of Liberty Lake and Bluett and Associates were even more important in helping us convince Vivint that this was the best location for their project.”

Washington state Governor Jay Inslee said in a prepared statement, “I'm looking forward to welcoming Vivint to Spokane and watching their business thrive. I know other states were interested in Vivint’s business and I appreciate the work of GSI and the Department of Commerce for successfully recruiting an innovative new company that will employ hundreds of people.”
