AWEA staff work with Congress as well as with partners at the state and regional level to ensure that wind industry interests are addressed in legislation impacting the industry. Members of Congress and their staff come to AWEA for information on how legislative proposals would affect their constituents. AWEA supports policies to boost the deployment of wind energy, including extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC), the establishment and maintaining of state Renewables Portfolio Standards (RPS), continuation of a strong federal research program, regulatory policies such as those in the area of transmission, and others.
EDUCATION & COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
AWEA provides statistics and information on development in the domestic and international markets to industry interests, the general public, and the news media, serving as the industry authority and correcting misinformation that sometimes surfaces concerning the industry.
ANNUAL INDUSTRY CONFERENCE:
Every year, AWEA hosts the WINDPOWER® Conference & Exhibition, the largest wind energy conference and exhibition in North America. The conference provides presentations that highlight the latest industry trends, technology developments, and renewable energy policy developments. WINDPOWER also provides unmatched access to wind industry businesses and technology leaders.
