Welcome
The NCIEDP is a collaboration of many people and organizations dedicated to improving the economy of North Central Indiana by attracting and retaining new businesses. Our regional partnership includes the six communities of Cass County, Clinton County, Fulton County, Howard County, Miami County, and Tipton County.
Our partners come from many different fields, including: economic development, business, industry, utilities workforce development, labor, education, and state and local elected officials. Although this group is so diverse, we recognize the importance of putting together all of the pieces required for economic growth and stability.
By understanding our need to cooperate, we will achieve the good of the entire region, not just our own communities. This will help realize our dream of North Central Indiana as a region of proud, home-town communities that successfully link business, government, industry, education, and technology to excel in the global marketplace.
Transportation
North Central Indiana is well positioned to provide exceptional access to both national and global markets. Located at the crossroads of US 24 (east/west) and US 31 (north/ south), 65% of the US population is within a day's drive via access to six (6) Interstate Highway Systems.
Not including major highways, there are numerous other methods of transportation in the area including access to several large airports like the Indianapolis International, Ft Wayne International, and South Bend Airports.
The region also offers accessibility to a variety of general aviation and corporate airports including Grissom Aeroplex's (Miami County) 12,500 ft runway in the center of our region for large corporate aircraft, aircraft maintenance, and air cargo use.
Railways also serve large portions of the area, offering valuable services to businesses while protecting the environment.
Education
As an important part of any region, North Central Indiana equips its inhabitants with a thriving educational system: 68,000 students enroll in 30 individual school corporations every year, and that's only including secondary education. After graduating high school, students can choose from major colleges and universities in and around the area including Ball State University, Purdue University, Indiana University, Notre Dame, and Ivy Tech Community College.
These educational partners offer tremendous opportunities accessibility, and flexibility for employers as well as the current and future workforce in the development of skills, research and development, knowledge transfer, etc., to prepare our region well into the future.
